The municipality of Dublin challenges people to come up with smart solutions that fit and benefit the city. GRA enables Dublin to show its beautiful gems towards its citizens. Concept GRA was created at the Dublin Institute of Technology and presented to the municipality. Watch the movie to experience GRA.

In the current time of cell phones and full planned days, people barely look around anymore. This was a trigger to make the citizens of Dublin love their city again. Therefore a first step was to observe current behaviour of Dublin citizens. It was seen that if people see a nice detail of the city they stop walking, walk back and take a picture. With these insights GRA could get its first shape.
The interaction that GRA should bring about was then defined. Dublin should feel like a person, tapping you on the shoulder and showing its hidden gems.
Through roleplay this interaction was tested with several inhabitants of the city and their feedback was used in developing the concept further.
Last, the technical support for GRA was described. Dublin citizens unknowingly create the database of hidden gems by tracking their stopping, walking back and taking photos. The output then will be like Dublin tapping on your shoulder…

gra-process

GRA is a smart system that uses people’s behavior as input to detect the hidden gems of the city. The output of GRA is the awareness created for these hidden gems towards other citizens. In this way people experience more of Dublin and fall in love with their city again.
